There’s something to be said for turning on your TV and seeing productions that have a meaningful impact on you. Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen comes to viewers through Access TV and provides a host of useful tips and tricks that vary quite dramatically from the negativity some shows present.

Sammy Hollenberg and her husband Jack live in Langenburg and are a tremendous alternative to other available programs. Sammy, the ‘Singing Chef’, has filmed three seasons with Access TV right in Langenburg out of the quaint, one-of-a-kind kitchen that Jack built.

Sammy Hollenberg hosts her cooking show in Langenburg from her quaint cottage kitchen.

Journeys like these do not develop quickly. After more than 40 years of sharing her entertainment and musical abilities, tearing up the highways and the byways, and some dirt roads; across Canada, the US, South and Central America, Hawaii and the autobahns of Mainland Europe, Sammy is now home and has found herself on a billboard for an advertising launch for Access Now.

Sammy Hollenberg, resident of Langenburg, finally made it to “The Billboard” on “Broadway”. Describing the attention her show is garnering, Sammy said, it is “Larger than life”.

She relayed a story in last week’s Four-Town Journal about being in a two-week quarantine recently after being delayed in Hawaii because of COVID-19. While having zucchini the size of your arms’ length is quite an accomplishment, being on a billboard on Broadway is another story.

The Billboard

Sammy received a call in mid-July with a request from Access TV Regina. She said, “The request was, could they feature me in an upcoming campaign to help promote our community channels across Saskatchewan. This mass media campaign was for TV, online and billboard. As a producer of my own show, Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen I was chosen to showcase and represent our community across Saskatchewan.”

She jumped at the opportunity with the attitude she seems to live by, ‘Live the life you love, and love the life you live, and keep on keepin on’.

Those words are a powerful reminder that life does evolve and adapting to change is part of its beautiful journey.

Talking about change, Sammy said, “I have never been afraid of a challenge so I thought why start now? This was an honour, so I asked why me? Their answer was simply, ‘We want to promote your positive approach to life and the enthusiasm that you put into your shows.’ That in these uncertain times it was what people needed to see. Not to mention, the viewers could pick up a few cooking tips!”

The new campaign has been launched through Access TV, who has a new name of Access Now.

To see the billboard, Sammy aid, “You will see me up on the billboard throughout Saskatchewan also on Broadway in Yorkton.”

The Show

Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen goes further than what you would expect in a small-town cottage-oriented cooking show. She has the tendency to become musical, not as you might expect with a hit song, but she has gained the nickname of ‘The Singing Chef’ in Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen.

A large pepper grinder is one of the staples of Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen.

Talking about bursting into song, she said, “Because I am doing what I love, creating recipes, creating music and combining the two to make a fun cooking show, I felt I was in the right place at the right time.” Sometimes things click and the only way to express one’s self is in a quick song.

Sammy cooks in a kitchen developed by her husband Jack, and utilizes her signature pepper grinder that is much larger than any domestic-kitchen style grinder.

She utilizes the cooking opportunity to teach erh grandchildren not only how to cook, but to have fun with it, even in front of a TV camera.

Viewers can find her show on the newly renamed Access Now as the crew periodically travels to Langenburg to film in Sammy’s Cottage Kitchen.

Speaking about the show, Sammy said, “We are filming season 4 as we speak.” Viewers can tune into the new programing through their Access subscription.

When asked what her cuisine is, Sammy simply answered, “Down-home cooking with a flair!.”
