The $1000 cheesecake; another “boomer” as auctioneer Kelly Cornelius would say.

The auctioneer had the crowd energized at the pie auction held at the MacNutt Community Center on January 18th, 2020. The auction was a fundraiser for the community center’s roof upgrade project.

The caramel pretzel cheesecake made by Rhonda Hahn first went for $420.

The cheesecake was immediately donated back to the auction by Randy and Char Slager to be sold again.

After being sold for a second time, this time to Donald and Heather Adam for $340, it was again immediately donated back to the auction for a second time.

The third sale of the cheesecake went for $325, and was again given back to the fundraiser, this time to be sold by the kitchen in slices.

Rhonda Hahn won the award for Cheesecake of the Year at a national Pilsbury contest in Toronto with the recipe.

The auction raised $11,000 for the MacNutt Community Center roof upgrade project. The project is estimated to cost $200,000 to complete.

Sherry Popp organized the auction with assistance from Marlene Rathgeber and Carla Rathgeber, as well as fellow committee member Kathy Furtney.

Kevin Popp, roof upgrade committee member, stated “The credit goes to the wonderful people that made these high priced items. And of course to the generous buyers. We took a positive step forward with 5% of our project goal “covered” last night.”
