On March 20, 2020 many students woke up to the announcement that they would not be visiting school until possibly September. Some may have felt like their work would stay at the school, but that is not the case. School divisions established supplemental education plans and teachers are already sending resources home.
Take the COVID-19 pandemic aside, most school kids would love to have an extended summer vacation; we all would-have during our school days, but that is not the case. School is still on and the learning continues.
Just think, months of no school, the days filled with Xbox, iPhones and Netflix; sounds like a dream come true for some kids.
Well I hate to pop the dream balloon, but school is coming back in a new innovative way with the Good Spirit School Division working hard to continue the education of our students.
Before the online instruction began, school officials and teachers worked tirelessly to make it possible.
Teachers connected with their students’ families to make arrangements for all school kids to receive their education at home.
This is a new innovative way to educate our children and will take some adapting from the teachers, students and families.
Time management for studies and recreation, to completion of work assignments can, and may be, a bit of a challenge.
But the true dream of many parents and teachers is for their kids to graduate with a good education and then find a great job.
Students, parents and teachers will all need to put the proverbial “nose to the grindstone” in this new innovative way of obtaining an education, but in the end, education is important to all of us. Let’s buckle down and make this new approach work in these different and dynamic times.
