An apple a day keeps the doctor away, goes the common-thought. An Apple product a lifetime is enough for me. Started in 1976, Apple is now a technology behemoth that seems to have it’s hands in everything. In 2018, they became the first American publicly-traded company to earn a worth of $1 trillion. I’m a proud user of Android phones, Windows computers, etc., anything other than those evil Apple products. Don’t get me wrong, they’re heavily popular, and friends and family I know who have them are more than impressed with their camera and other features like FaceTime. Apple also reportedly employs over 132,000 people full-time and helps the economy in a number of other ways through their business ventures (Statistics from CNN).
I stay away from Apple because it is the unknown that I didn’t know about, but everyone else did, so I pretended like I didn’t want to be a part of the crowd. Heck, Apple is even coming out with their own credit card which should streamline their process even more. In a day and age where people seem to enjoy things easy, Apple is the champion. Maybe I was afraid that once I bought one Apple product I would become like the other 46 million (statista.com) people who bought an iPhone in 2018 and fall in love with it.
Apple, I tried to stay away but your strong pull grabbed me eventually.
Why would I go to the dark-side then? Apple made me. To get a mobile app developer account with Apple, you need a trusted Apple device for “extra security”. As a convenience to me, Apple makes sure that it is only I logging into my developer account and they can make sure of that by me becoming authenticated through one of their products. Sure, I might have been able to borrow a friend/family member’s phone for the task, but we needed a business phone anyway; why not get 2 things done at once!
Now that I have the Apple device, I can finish getting the app to Apple’s App Store. I’ll also add it takes pretty great pictures as well. It’s not as difficult to make the switch as I thought. Maybe I should of opened my eyes to the world of Apple earlier.
Now to one-day watch my first episode of Game of Thrones; I hear I’m missing out on that one as well.
