On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the Town of Bredenbury called their regularly scheduled meeting of the town council to order and gave the floor to the Bredenbury Lions/Lioness for a short presentation. 

Next, the council reviewed the agenda before Councillor Chartier made the motion to accept the agenda as reviewed; motion carried. Carrying on, the council reviewed the minutes of the last meeting with CAO Varga reviewing the information. Councillor Trowell made the motion to accept the minutes as reviewed; motion carried.

The council reviewed the town’s financials. With no questions arising, Councillor Reykalin made the motion to accept the town’s financials as reviewed; motion carried.

The council reviewed the town foreman’s written report before Councillor Trowell made the motion to accept his report; the motion carried. 

The council discussed the spillage on the rail line, as well as the noise levels and the company involved.

There has been a request to close the road in front of the bar for a “show and shine” and Councillor Burmam made the motion to allow this; motion carried.

Several residents have requested a dog park in town. The council discussed several locations where this park could be situated. The council will hold a meeting with the residents wanting to have the dog park.

There was a complaint about the traffic on 4th Street. Residents are concerned about vehicles going at high speeds. There was a discussion of installing speed bumps. It was decided to put up a road sign in the hopes to reduce speeding. Speed bumps seem to not be stopping the speeders. Councillor Chartier made the motion to install a child playing sign; motion carried.

After a short discussion about paving around town, Councillor Trowell made the motion to bring in the paving crew; motion carried.

A demolition permit has been requested. Councillor Reykjalin made the motion to allow the demolition permit pending the old owner’s approval.

There was a discussion on the lift station. The flooring in the water treatment plant needs repairing as well. The town budgeted $10,000 for the cement pad to be added to the lift station and will be held for future repairs to the building.

The council discussed the Kubota lawn mower the town is looking at purchasing, Councillor Reykjalin made the motion to purchase this unit; motion carried.

The grand opening of the New Firehall occurred on June 23.

There was a daycare meeting with 10 ratepayers attending. There is a big interest in having a daycare in the Town of Bredenbury, with the biggest issues being the expense of starting up a daycare and getting funding to keep the costs down for usage. There is approximately a $250 – $300 dollar difference between a funded daycare and one that isn’t.

The council reviewed the correspondence received by the town for the last month. Councillor Trowell made a motion to file the correspondence; motion carried. 

The rink made approximately $8000 revenue which normally needs to be funded by the ratepayers; this year all expenses were covered. 

The council then went in-camera.
