“These nominations mean an incredible amount to myself as well as the guys on my team. We all work so hard to make this dream a reality, and recognition in some way shape or form always proves well for morale!” Charron said.

JR spoke about his musical journey and how it all began.

“I started playing keyboard at a very young age, maybe 5 or 6. My dad would sit with me in the living room and we’d make up songs together. He always encouraged me to sing and write, and always told me ‘my boy is going to be famous one day’! It wasn’t until he passed away though that I started chasing that dream. I was 14 or so, and for those who know me from my early days performing, you’ll note I wasn’t very good. But, with anything, the more practice and work you put in the better you become. Flash forward a whole bunch of years and the dream is becoming a reality, we’re nominated for awards- and have charted a single on the Indie charts”.

An established writer, lyricist, and performer, JR has plays on stages across North America, he found success on CBC Searchlight with his self-released single, “This Train”, and, alongside his former band Jump The Clutch, landed in the Top 15 on iTunes country music charts with “Day Worth Living For”.

Fans looking to keep up with JR Charron will see him showcased at the CCMAs in Hamilton next week.

The 41st annual CCMA awards presented by TD, will air live Saturday, September 16 at 8 P.M. ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app.

The artist explained, “We’ll be playing two separate showcases at the CCMAs. One on the Friday, Diamond’s in the Rough, put on by Sirroma Entertainment; it will showcase Canada’s top independent country artists. As well as a showcase on the Saturday, which is put on in collaboration between the Manitoba Country Music Association, and Saskatchewan Country Music Association”.
