Churchbridge Girls Part of Gold Winning Team at Sask U12 Provincial Championship

The Sask U12 provincial softball championship was held in Regina from July 23rd-25th. Local athletes from the area displayed an impressive amount of talent in the Queen City, defeating teams from the larger centers on their way to the championship.
The team, named the Melville Mils, was put together and started practicing twice a week on June 28th.
Throughout the season, the team played 5 games in a Moosomin tournament winning all five they played.
They travelled to play a doubleheader in Melville and won both, going undefeated over a total of 12 games.
A summary of the tournament is provided below.
Friday July 23 Melville Mils vs. Laflesh Lightning (Won 7-2).
Saturday July 24 Melville Mils vs. Carlyle Cardinals (Won 12-2).
Melville Mils vs. Quad Town Steelers (Won 7-6).
In the close game versus the Steelers, the Mils made four uncharacteristic errors and found themselves down 6-0 after 3 innings.
The Melville girls showed heart and belief in themselves, and slowly chipped away at the 6 run deficit, run by run until ultimately winning. The Mil’s last batter drove in the winning run to claim victory 7-6.
Sunday July 25 Melville Mils vs. Weyburn Wild (Won 19-2).
