Community support is what it’s all about! Esterhazy residents Charissa Polvi, Tammy MacDonald Lussier, Derek Paidel and Tyler Metz all came together and innovated the “Claire Bear” fundraiser.

On Sept 4, 2020 Claire Norek was involved in an ATV accident that will require her to stay at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital for an extended period of time. This fundraiser is to help raise funds for the Norek family to use as they choose and help brighten Claire’s stay at JPCH.

The fundraiser was held on October 29th from 3-5 P.M. at the S.N. Boreen Hall. It was set up as a drive-through event to follow COVID-19 protocols.

The Claire Bears could be purchased for $20 by anyone interested. One option was to take pictures with your Claire bear and send it to strongclairebear@outlook.com so Claire could share in their journey. The photos would go straight to Claire.

If you wanted to donate your bear at that time, it would go to the Esterhazy EMS to be given to any child that has to travel in their ambulance, or Claire would share the bears with her friends that she has made at the children’s hospital in Saskatoon.

If you missed out on a Claire Bear, don’t worry you can purchase one at Sapara’s Drug Mart and The Painted Edge starting Thursday November 5. Both businesses are located in Esterhazy on Main Street; they ask that you please bring cash only. The fundraising committee can no longer accept gifted bears, instead monetary donations can be taken directly to North Valley Credit Union in Esterhazy. Donations will be deposited into the “Claire Bear” account.

“On a final note, thank you again for showing what a great community we live in,” exclaimed Tammy MacDonald Lussier.
