Audiences can look forward to a light-hearted night of comedy on May 10th in Bredenbury.

The DIY comedy tour will arrive in town, bringing 3 independent comics who have performed at comedy clubs and on tours across Canada. The group is not working under any agency or label.

Scott Porteous of the DIY Comedy Tour said, “We’ll be at Red Beards bar and grill May 10th, 7:30pm Tickets are available on Eventbrite and can also be purchased at the venue. $20 per ticket or $30 a pair. The goal of this tour is to build our own brand that allows us to work consistently and do what we love, performing.”

When asked why the group is stopping in town for their tour, Scott mentioned, “In 2019, I booked the tour Hilarity for Charity (also featuring Frank Russo) which was dedicated to raising awareness and funds for local charities. In our travels we came across a show at Red Beards in Bredenbury while passing through. The warm welcome and love that the Red Beards crowd showed us made it a very memorable experience and we couldn’t wait to come back for a full show.”

Since that show, the group continued their work and is now engaging in a 18-show tour.

The DIY Comedy Tour includes 18 shows in 20 days starting in Minnedosa, Manitoba on May 8th and crosses the western provinces all the way to Vancouver Island, concluding in Lethbridge, Alberta at Good Times comedy club May 27th.

When asked about his experience in comedy, Scott Porteous said, “I personally have been touring for over 10 years, DIY will be my 14th cross-Canada venture. When I first started I couldn’t imagine booking a tour but through time and experience I’ve learned that the best path to success is carving your own. DIY Comedy Tour is our first under this brand, it starts May 8 and runs through May 27th, with plans to fire back up in the Fall, covering Ontario to the East coast”.

Scott mentioned earlier that he and Frank Russo worked alongside each other during their last stop in Bredenbury. The pair are joined with Mike Payne for the 3-man show.

“I’ve known Frank Russo for almost a decade, we met at various festivals and competitions early on and have worked several tours and road gigs together over the years. I met Mike Payne through an online comedy platform a few years back and we’ve kept in touch ever since. All 3 of us have produced and hosted shows in our regions, with each of us having unique approaches to comedy that reflect our different backgrounds. Throw Herbert into the mix and there’s something for everybody.”

Audiences can expect a range of comedy from our personal lives to societal observations, discussing the mundane and dragging it into the absurd, and of course Herbert, who’s just a weirdo.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite and can also be purchased at the venue. $20 per ticket or $30 for a pair.
