On June 27th, the Esterhazy High School class of 2020 had a parade through town celebrating their graduation.
The parade started at 2:00 P.M. and included many decked out trucks, a quad, cars and golf carts. All the grads that participated were all dressed up and looked amazing.
The graduates and their parents gathered at the ninth hole of the Esterhazy Golf Course for pictures before the parade started.
The parade was organized by the graduates’ par- ents, with special mention to Sherry-Lee Duncan and Corine Chaisson. The decorations on the vehicles in- cluded balloons, streamers, signs and more.
All guidelines for the parade were followed, with Es- terhazy police leading the parade with lights and sirens.
It was a very hot day, at least 30 degrees celsius, bringing many people out to honk and cheer.
Spectators could be seen congratulating all the graduates that went by. The parade went right by my house, so I sat in a lawn chair and watched it go by.
Most of the grads were standing (or sitting) in truck boxes.
On Facebook, Sherry-Lee Duncan said: “A big thank you to the graduates, their families, the RCMP, Town of Esterhazy, the Esterhazy Golf Course, Fresh- mart, Family Foods, the Banga sisters, Saskpro, and the residents of our communities for coming out to support the graduates!” she continued, “My daughter, Zoe, said her heart swelled when they passed Centen- nial Special Care Home and the staff had even rolled people out in their beds to join the festivities. Thank you to the staff for their hard work. I hope we have started a tradition for years to come. COVID-19 ain’t got nothing on this community, we are persevering and doing it in style.”
Congratulations to all the 2020 graduates!
