It's a Strange Strange World

Carla Bellucci only had one fervent wish to fulfill her life… a bigger and rounder behind. The British mother is crowdfunding an $8,800 butt lift procedure because she says she needs it for her mental health. It isn’t hard to see why she earned the moniker ‘Britain’s most hated woman’. After the British National Health Service (NHS) denied footing the bill for her butt surgery, she criticized the NHS for being hypocrites. “I don’t know why, transgenders get operations left, right and centre but they will not pay for my bum lift.” The mom of three has a history of questionable surgery schemes. She previously faked depression so that the NHS would pay for a $10,000 nose job. She is allegedly saving cash for her 14-year-old daughter Tanisha so that she can undergo several procedures like a Brazilian bum lift when she turns 16. The justification? “Ugly people get nowhere,” Bellucci said.

Four office workers at the R.M. of Sherwood have been on strike for over six weeks. The staff wanted a 2% raise in 2019 and 2020. The raise would have cost the R.M.(that encompasses the city of Regina) roughly $10,000. Probably with the best intentions, the council resisted, but has spent $45,467 since 2018 on a consultant to try to negotiate a two-year wage freeze and manage the RM’s labour relations. There may very well be another side to the story, but it doesn’t sound very smart.

Part of what is wrong with the world is whatever prompted Texas to further loosen gun laws. Firearms are now allowed in places of worship, foster homes, school grounds, rental apartments, and during disasters. We are sliding into the ‘old Wild West’ where the biggest guns and the least compassion will rule. There are times that weapons are useful and even necessary, but it’s sad that the exception is becoming everyday life. Most of the support comes from the NRA, which is supported by the gun manufacturers

A 72-year-old man could not figure out what was wrong with his throat. Following a minor operation on his abdomen, he had been in pain, coughing up blood and unable to swallow solid food for almost a week. A throat examination revealed nothing. After a chest X-ray and blood tests, he was told he had a lower respiratory tract infection and he was sent home with medication. As the man’s condition worsened, doctors finally discovered the real source of his symptoms: his dentures, which he thought were lost during an operation eight days earlier, had actually been lodged in his throat the entire time. It seems obvious to me that the dentures (a metallic plate with three front teeth affixed to it) should have been removed in the pre-op.

A sports fan at Angel Stadium in Anaheim made a citizen’s arrest when he discovered a man allegedly making videos in a men’s restroom. Police cited the man and confiscated the device he was using. The device contained video of 37 other men. Ryan Caplette, 42, is now charged with 37 counts of peeping with intent to invade privacy, 37 counts of secretly recording in a restroom, and one count of loitering, all misdemeanors. The Los Angeles Police Protective League Board of Directors was interested in the case since Caplette is an LAPD detective, a peer support officer with experience in “Christianity struggles,” and a member of the Community Police Advisory Board.

A group of adventurers had planned to canoe 67 miles down the river to just outside Canyonlands National Park. After three hours, over 20 Scouts and leaders from two troops were located and brought to shore. Most of the boats were homemade of PVC pipe and wrapped with a plastic tarp. The Scout Leader’s boat was the first to sink, after just a few hundred yards. The rest of the group only made it about four miles. The boats had “no business being on the river” due to the high flow during spring runoff, said Sgt. Mitch Vetere.
An anonymous man got himself in trouble when he went on Tinder while his wife was away. Although he was ‘happily married’, he downloaded Tinder, although insisting he had no ‘intentions.’ He looked through the profiles but quickly became bored, that is, until he spotted his wife’s picture! She was listed on the site as ‘available’. He planned to confront her when she returned from her business trip, but, of course, he needed to think of a good explanation as to why he was on Tinder.

In Ohio, a small cut on a woman’s arm and a friendly lick from her dog led to what has been termed a “perfect storm”. Marie Trainer’s ordeal began with feeling ill and lying on the couch. She woke up from a coma 10 days later with both of her arms and both of her legs partially amputated. Her family initially suspected she had the flu, but when her temperature started wildly fluctuating, Trainer was rushed to the hospital. Despite aggressive treatment, she started developing sepsis and her limbs developed gangrene. The issue was capnocytophaga, a bacteria found in the saliva of dogs and cats that doesn’t adversely affect the animals but can, in rare cases, spread to humans. The family has no plans to get rid of the dogs while Trainer goes through extensive rehab.
