Langenburg Minor Ball practices started on May 3rd. Representative Chantel Keough stated, “Games started on May 31 with a recent government announcement. The season will probably go until the end of June. If some teams want to continue longer it is up to them.”

This season will have certain similarities to previous years however it will look different to adhere to various regulations in place. “With the new government regulations starting May 30 the players, coaches are not required to wear masks when playing. Social distancing is still recommended and sanitization of equipment and frequently touched areas. All games are exhibitions for this year. Sask Softball and Baseball Sask are still planning for provincials later in the summer, that is up to each team to decide if they want to participate,” Chantel said. “We welcome spectators at the diamonds but LMBA is not responsible for any contact tracing or issues/cases. It is up to each individual spectator to practice social distance when enjoying the games.”

The current teams in Langenburg are Jr. Rally Cap (tee ball), Sr. Rally Cap (toss ball), 11U Baseball, 13U Baseball, 15U Baseball, 18U Baseball for baseball teams with U10 Softball and U18 Softball for softball teams.

With games that started on May 31, Keough said Langenburg will play, “Baseball against Churchbridge, Saltcoats, Esterhazy, Yorkton, Foam Lake, Wynyard and softball against Esterhazy, Melville, Yorkton.”

Chantel mentioned, “We are looking for umpires. If there is anyone interested for this year they just need knowledge of the sport and we have some equipment. In future years there are yearly certification clinics.”

Minor ball is a great program for the community and children. Thank you to all either on the board, coaching or any other volunteers.

Chantel says, “We are looking to recruit new board members as there are positions vacant and need to be filled for the next season.”

There is a bottle drive on Monday June 21 starting at 5:30 p.m. People can drop off at Sarcan if they prefer and donate to Langenburg Minor Ball.
