Local communities will receive some extra funding this year from the federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF).
The federal government recently announced that Saskatchewan communities will not only receive the first of two $31.2 million installments of the GTF for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, but a “top-up” of $61.9 million. That additional payout doubles the amount of money for Saskatchewan communities, based on their allocations for 2018-2019.
The federal GTF is a long-term, indexed source of funding that supports a range of local infrastructure projects across the province, ranging from carrying out asset management plans to building new sports facilities to repairing and replacing infrastructure including bridges and roads.
