Jeri-Ann Brownbridge from Regina participated in the disc golf tournament held this past Saturday at the Churchbridge Credit Union Disc Golf course.

The Brownbridges, Jeri-Ann and her husband, hold an impressive accomplishment as they played at every disc golf course in Saskatchewan between July 8th and October 27th, 2020.

Between all of these courses, she says the one in Churchbridge sticks out in her mind vividly.

Jeri-Ann described the course by saying, “I love it. I think it’s one of the best courses around. It’s in a regional park, it’s beautifully created around the campgrounds, which makes it easily accessible to people. We liked it so much that we came back in the winter time in snowshoes.”

Asked about her motivation for wanting to set out on the goal, she said, “When Covid really struck hard in the province, and there wasn’t a whole lot you could do for clubs or sports, disc golf allowed us to have that ability to play a sport, singular and socially distanced without having to jeopardize safety.”

Travelling around the province also benefits the many small towns that have these courses, as athletes often stop in for a meal, fill gas or shop around the local stores.

Jeri-Ann said, “It was a way for us to travel, and support all the local businesses, regional parks and provincial parks.”

The journey took off on July 8th, 2020 on Brownbridge’s birthday when she and her husband visited five courses in one day. She said, “It was so much fun that I started getting ideas of how to spend our summer holidays. We mapped out different ways and managed to get all sixty-five courses by October 27th.”

According to www.discgolfscene.com, in our area, disc golf courses can be found in Bredenbury, Churchbridge, Madge Lake, Carlton Trail Regional Park, Kamsack, Melville, Saltcoats, Stockholm, Togo and Yorkton.

To help others looking to learn more about the various disc golf courses in the province, Jeri-Ann added photos of all the courses to a mobile app for disc golfers called UDisc (udisc.com/courses).

Brownbridge started in 2019 and now she says disc golf is part of her lifestyle. “We’ve participated in almost every tournament Saskatchewan has.”
