He may not be the clubs leading scorer but there is arguably no player that works harder than Tyson Zimmer. The seventeen year old from Russell, Manitoba is in his second season with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.

Zimmer made the club last season, a season exclusively played in Regina due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Zimmer had three goals, and one assist to go along with four penalty minutes in 14 games. This season he has scored three times and added eight assists to go along with 14 penalty minutes.

Prior to the start of the 2020-2021 Western Hockey League season Zimmer played 10 games for the Manitoba Junior Hockey Leagues Waywayseecappo Wolverines tallying eight points in that time. He has played the bulk of his junior hockey in Manitoba and loves playing in front of family and friends. “It is special, playing so close to home,” Zimmer says. “Family is always out cheering us on, there is no better feeling.” The 17 year old does not turn 18 until September fifth so there are still plenty of chances to watch Zimmer and the Wheat Kings play. Their next game is on Friday December 17th in Brandon.
