Thanks to the hard work of the people of Saskatchewan, the Provincial Government (especially the Saskatchewan Health Authority) and our local municipal governments, the province of Saskatchewan seems to be on the way to eventually achieving a day of 0 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. As the active cases lower, we cross our fingers until the number depletes completely.

On April 14, 2020, Saskatchewan had one new confirmed case of COVID-19. As of April 15th, there were ninety-five cases considered active with no one in intensive care. We must still stand vigilant to keep these positive outcomes happening.

April 16th brought more positive news. With only one additional case being confirmed and fourteen more recoveries, it brought the active count down to eighty-two.

According to a data map from the SHA, there are two active cases in the east and west central area.

It has been a rough go for the province in some cases, but in true Saskatchewan spirit, we once again have shown our strength adhering to the Health Authority’s requests to self-isolate and social distance.

Does this mean we can meet up with friends and walk around town as a group, or take the kids to the park?

No, not yet. Let’s keep our social distance for a short time longer and squash this virus in its tracks, the Saskatchewan way.

This means that Saskatchewan, under the guidance of our Health Authority, is getting a hold of this situation and working through it in true Saskatchewan fashion.

Our schools enacted measures to ensure our children receive an education, our provincial government allotted extra funding to assist residents and businesses to recover from this the best we can.

“Rough seas make for good sailors,” just like rough times make for good people and neighbours, strengthening the spirit and soul of a person as a united province.

Hold fast to the gunwale and let’s ride the rest of these rough waters in true Saskatchewan spirit; there are blue skies ahead if we stay mindful of our physical actions and continue to support each other and our healthcare system.
