December 1, 2020 (Langenburg, SK) — A new and modern recreational swimming pool is soon to be a reality for the Town of Langenburg, as the multi-year project nears completion. It has confirmed an opening date of July 1, 2021. Since the 1970s, the facility has attracted many visitors from the community and surrounding regions however, to ensure the continuity of services – and to meet the needs of all public users regardless of age or ability – the aging infrastructure needed repair. Fundraising for the project was highly successful and included support from both local residents and a series of external donors – Richardson Pioneer Limited was pleased to join in this effort with a contribution of $100,000.
“The Langenburg Swimming Pool Committee recognizes that providing quality recreation opportunities that are meaningful, inclusive, and accessible to everyone builds strong links within the community,” says Juli Mitschke, Recreation Director, Town of Langenburg. “This is why the committee [of ten] made it their mission to jump in with both feet and plan for the replacement of the existing pool facility. Having companies such as Richardson supporting our initiative can make all the difference in how quickly we reach our goals.”
The planning and construction of the project is a three-phase process, with ground breaking beginning in August of 2020. The new pool will ensure the needs of all public users are met with accessible washrooms and change rooms and a zero-depth entry. In combination with popular summer lessons and programming, the site will host modern additions including a vortex lazy river, multiple water and splash park features, and a junior Olympic four-lane lap pool.
“Recreation facilities play a vital role in overall community well-being and Richardson Pioneer felt that this was a significant and important initiative to contribute to,” says Wyatt Kieper, Location Manager, Richardson Pioneer Langenburg. “The goal was to build a centre that we can all be proud of – one that will help facilitate quality interactions and provide opportunity for tourism in the area.”
