The Ministry of the Environment confirms that Arbor Day 2021 will be proclaimed for Friday, May 28. Arbor Week will begin that day and end June 6.
The Arbor Day committee wishes to thank the Honorable Warren Kaeding for his commitment to this cause!
Here are some suggestions to celebrate.
1) Plan to plant a tree or trees on Arbor Day or during that week. (Or celebrate plantings done a few days earlier.)
2) Encourage others to do the same – municipalities, community organizations, faith groups, family members, neighbours. Use word-of-mouth, social media, news releases to local media.
3) If possible, engage children or youth in conversations and actions so that they become more knowledgeable and enthusiastic about trees and engaged in planting and caring for trees.
4) Encourage such activities as walkabouts identifying varieties of trees close at hand, art displays, creative writing activities such as My Favourite Tree or If Trees Could Speak.
5) Encourage plant centers and nurseries to offer Arbor Day specials, to have signs or displays (you might provide such signs or posters) about Arbor Day.
6) Share your ideas or plans with others.
