Marty Haubrich, a figure skater originally from Dubuc, Saskatchewan, continues his success in figure skating! He told me that over the last year he moved to Brantford, Ontario to pursue his career in Figure Skating. He started with a new coach, Alison Purkiss, and a new skating partner, Summer Homick in the middle of April 2021. They did a couple “small virtual competitions during the summer to prepare for the season” until their Sectional competition in November 2021. At Sectionals, they qualified to go onto the Skate Canada Challenge in Regina in the beginning of December, where they placed second overall. That competition qualified them for the Skate Canada Canadian Tire National Championships in Ottawa, where they also placed second. After Nationals, they were given an assignment to Oberstdorf, Germany to compete at the Bavarian Open, where they placed second again. This was the next step in qualifying for Junior Worlds. Congratulations to Marty Haubrich, his partner Summer Homick, and his coach Alison Purkiss!
