For the past year and a half while my husband Tyler has been working here in Esterhazy, we’ve been trying to work out how we could live as a family and still continue with the careers that we love. I’ve spent most of my career with public health audiology and saw the lack of audiology services in rural areas, so opening up the House of Hearing in Esterhazy makes perfect sense.” – Audiology Chelsea Stewart.
Audiologist Chelsea Stewart opened up the House of Hearing at 505 Main Street in Esterhazy on January 18th.
Stewart is a registered audiologist who has spent several years of her career working with Public Health in Regina.
Passionate about what she does, she’s looking forward to having the time to give her patients the attention they need to discuss their individual situations and offer custom made solutions to their hearing needs.
“That was another reason why I wanted to open my own clinic was to be able to be in control of the care that I provide my patients and to have the ability to work with them to create custom, individualized plans and hearing solutions, depending upon their needs, their budgets and individual circumstances,” Stewart said.
After a thorough diagnostic hearing evaluation to determine the extent and type of hearing loss, Stewart will take the time to fully explain the type and severity of the hearing loss. She is also well equipped to provide long term care and treatment for ailments such as tinnitus or ‘ringing in the ears’.
Services such as industrial hearing testing, educational audiology, ear wax removal will also be available out of the House of Hearing for patients 4 years old and up.
The House of Hearing offers a wide variety of services, Stewart added.
“I do everything related to their hearing needs,” she added.b“After a thorough hearing assessment, I provide all that information and if the individuals were interested in hearing devices, then I would consult with them and with their input, work together to determine the best solution would be, whether it be hearing aids or another service. I go over the technology of hearing aids that would be the most appropriate for that person, their diagnosis and their budget.”
While Stewart does do hearing aid sales, and all the long term support, cleaning and repairs that entails, if people have purchased hearing aids elsewhere, those can be cleaned and serviced at House of Hearing as well.
“And I’ll be selling hearing protection out of our officer and swim plugs, that type of thing.”
House of Hearing is authorized to service third party patients – such as Workers Compensation Board, Supplementary Health and Veterans Affairs. Private insurance will be accepted where patients would pay for their hearing test and then be reimbursed by their insurance company, Stewart added but she will also be able to directly bill some third parties.
Chelsea and her husband Tyler are already thoroughly enjoying living in Esterhazy and are looking forward to becoming more involved in the community.
