Binscarth native JR Charron will demonstrate his musical talent on stage on Sunday, August 6th at the Prairie Lake Lodge Mini Country Music Festival.
Joining Charron will be a lineup of local talent including Karin Roulston, Sydney Foster, Kelvin Wiebe & Michael Pelletier, Lorne & Ken Thompson, Eye for an Eye ft. Scott Cornelius, and hosts Terry Hildebrandt & Holly Dreger.
A small-town boy with a big voice, JR Charron continues to break down barriers by combining old & new school country influences with his powerfully gritty rock vocals.
JR’s debut EP Impression (2020) made waves with “Song for You”, which landed in the Top 10 on the Canadian Indie Country Charts, followed by his second single, “Broke”, charting in the Top 50.
Charron will be playing an acoustic set solo during the event. Speaking about the local festival, JR said, “I’m always excited to get back home and play. These are where my roots run deep, and where it all started for me. We’ve had an extremely busy spring and summer, so the fact we were able to fit this show in just feels right.”
An established writer, lyricist, and performer, JR has played stages across North America, found success on CBC Searchlight with his self-released single, “This Train”, and, alongside his former band Jump The Clutch, landed in the Top 15 on iTunes country music charts with “Day Worth Living For”.
Most recently, JR celebrated four Manitoba Country Music Award nominations including his win for “Fan’s Choice” and a performance of “Who You’re Gonna Be”; his heartfelt & emotionally driven new single that shares a softer side of the family man.
Advance tickets for the festival are $30 and can be purchased at the Prairie Lake Lodge Club House, Twin Valley Co-op (Russell), Parkland Co-op Gas Bar (Roblin), Home Hardware (Langenburg) and Friendly’s Store (Inglis). Children under 12 can attend free of charge.
The event is sponsored by the Prairie Lake Lodge Property Owners Association; it will feature beer gardens, food concessions and kids bouncers.
Proceeds from the event will go to the marina and beachfront funds.
