Morris Lodge – Our Story

Morris Lodge was founded by George and Helen Morris nearly fifty years ago and has been serving high-quality care to residents ever since.

George and Helen were farmers, small business owners, and long-time residents of Bangor. After successfully building their manufacturing company, they approached the Bangor Village Council to discuss how they could invest in developing the local community.

Seeing a growing need for senior care throughout the region, George and Helen settled on building a residential care home for Bangor, so local seniors would be able to access safe, high-quality care without having to leave the region or their families.

Morris Lodge Society was officially incorporated as a charity in 1973, and in 1974 we opened our doors and our first residents moved in.

We are licensed by the Government of Saskatchewan under The Personal Care Homes Act and our residents are eligible for Personal Care Home Benefit Program.

The Personal Care Home Benefit Program gives seniors with low incomes the affordability and choice to apply for residence at Morris Lodge.

Morris Lodge operates with a volunteer board which is in charge of policy and procedures. Our executive director oversees the running and financial part of Morris Lodge. The staff working on the floor look after the personal needs of the residents and makes sure their rooms and bathrooms are clean. Our cooks manage the kitchen and prepare all the meals that are home cooked and fresh baking. We have a nurse that comes in once a week to assess our residents and makes sure their medical needs are taken care of.

Morris Lodge is a non-profit charity and relies on donations and fundraising.

Morris Lodge is a facility that can care for 19 residents. We provide 24 – hour care and activities. We are accepting new residents and welcome anyone interested to drop by and have a tour.
